What this book is
Mówię po polsku ("I speak Polish") is a speaking workbook for levels A1 and A2 from Prolog's "Polski w ćwiczeniach" series, written by Monika Gworys and Anna Mądrecka. It has 128 pages and was first published in 2021 (reprinted in 2024). A separate volume covers B1 and B2.
Who it suits best
- Learners at A1–A2 who understand a lot but find it hard to speak.
- Teachers and tutors running conversation classes.
- Learners at A2 who want to rehearse exam-style speaking tasks.
Who should pick something else
- B1 exam candidates — choose the publisher's B1/B2 volume or a B1 exam book.
- Anyone who needs grammar, reading or listening practice: this book is about speaking only.
- Solo learners with nobody to talk to — speaking tasks need a partner, a teacher or at least a recorder.
What's inside
- 20 chapters, 10 for each level. Each level opens with a description of what the level means for speaking and how the exam's speaking part works.
- Units move from warm-ups to guided and then free speaking; the last tasks of each unit sum it up and point towards the exam.
- In the A2 half, every chapter ends with speaking tasks in the certificate exam format.
- Authentic stimuli: texts about famous Poles and places, Polish food, infographics, comics, photos, posters and leaflets. Role-plays, interviews, descriptions and presentations.
- Downloadable communication cards and model answers recorded for the first A2 unit.
What learners and teachers say
Independent opinions are almost non-existent. On Empik the book shows 5.0 out of 5 from 3 ratings, with no written review (checked October 2026). The publisher quotes two pre-publication reviews by university experts on teaching Polish: one gives it "a very high" final assessment, the other calls it "a very valuable, long-awaited title, filling a serious gap" — useful as expert opinion, but commissioned by the publisher. We found no learner reviews on forums or Goodreads.
Our verdict
A modern, well-designed speaking supplement for A1–A2. Use it with a teacher or a partner alongside a coursebook. When you move towards B1, practise the exam's oral tasks with our speaking training with AI feedback.
