The state Polish B1 exam costs about 730 PLN for an adult (exam fee + certificate issuance), is held at accredited centres across Poland and abroad, and in 2026 there are five sessions scheduled. Here are the details.
How much the B1 exam costs

| Item | Cost (B1, adults) |
|---|---|
| Exam fee | ~643 PLN |
| Certificate issuance | ~86 PLN |
| Total | ~730 PLN |
This is the statutory maximum — centres may charge less, and the amount is set as the equivalent of an official rate, so it can vary slightly between centres and sessions. You can confirm current fees on the official certyfikatpolski.pl website.
2026 session dates
The state exam is held in several sessions a year (Saturday–Sunday). B1 for adults is available at all five 2026 sessions:
- 14–15 February 2026
- 25–26 April 2026
- 27–28 June 2026
- 17–18 October 2026
- 5–6 December 2026
You usually have to register in advance (roughly about 2 months before the session), and places can be limited — it's worth registering early. The 2027 dates have not been announced yet.
Where you can take the exam
The state exam is run by accredited centres in many Polish cities and abroad. The exact list of centres for a given session is published as a PDF on certyfikatpolski.pl — not every centre runs every session. You can most often take the exam in cities such as:
- Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Poznań
- Lublin, Łódź, Szczecin, Katowice
- and others (e.g. Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Rzeszów, Toruń)
You'll find the current list and registration in the centres section on certyfikatpolski.pl.
State exam or TELC?
If you're considering the TELC exam, keep in mind the difference in price and recognition: TELC usually costs about 1200 PLN and is accepted for, among others, the EU long-term resident permit, but not for citizenship. You'll find a full comparison of both exams — recognition, structure, dates and costs — in our FAQ about the B1 exams.
